Solar Charger Progress

I found a little bit of wiggle room in my schedule so i decided to do a little work on the solar charger, its not really much but its all I had time for.

Ok I started off by getting a 1/4 in. diameter nut about 1 in. long and glued it to a 4x1 in. piece of aluminum.
If you have never used or heard of JB weld before then your missing out. It is a must have for any job anywhere, its some seriously useful stuff. I also have a 6 in. threaded rod that the mounting plate is going to go on I just forgot to take a picture.
I cut out a piece of foam the size of my solar panel (about 5x3 in.) which will be attached to the mounting plate and then threaded onto the rod. The rod will be suspended between the two pivot points depicted in my drawings. I know its not much but its all I had time for, hopefully I'll be able to get some more work done next week. Feel free to leave comments and opinions.

Solar Charger Redesign 3D Mock up

I had a little bit of time this morning so i decided to do the 3D mock up of the solar charger redesign, comments and suggestions are welcome.

Solar Charger Redesign

Well I went back and looked at my design for the solar charger and thought it needed a redesign. I added a pivot point for the solar panel since the sun isn't always were you want it to be and slimmed down the design. I will be posting a 3D rendition of it hopefully some time this week (really busy right now), feel free to post suggestions and comments.

Solar Charger Build

I know I said I'd post the electrical circuit for the solar charger but I actually found a really good guide already made on Adafruits site(http://bit.ly/bRxiMV). This guide pretty much covers the electrical portion of my build stay tuned for my plans on the physical assembly of the device.

All credit goes to the good people over at Adafruit.com

Solar Charger 3D mock up

Ok I made a quick 3D mock up of the solar charger sketch I posted earlier on. I know its not much to look at but that was never really my intention, maybe once I get the thing up and running I'll work on making it look pretty.

The blue rectangular thing is the solar panel

And the top view (that small rectangular piece is the USB port)

I'll probably be posting the electrical circuit later on today or possibly tomorrow as well as the list of electrical hardware (and where to get it).

Solar Dock quick draft

Ok so I quickly drew up some pictures so you can kinda get a feel for it. I'll be posting a 3D rendition later on today or tomorrow.Remember these are just very basic sketches so they have no real detail, it was made just to get a layout of the device.

Portable Version?

Any and all feedback is welcome.
